I work best in a team and cross-functionally across teams. I like to be able to bounce ideas off of someone else to help me crystalize my own thoughts; getting the perspectives of people from different teams and disciplines makes my work better.
Bringing the consumer home (2013)
After conducting a five-market research project that used in-home ethnography, shop alongs, and cultural safaris with our clients, I coordinated a team of designers, videographers, and researchers the creation of an immersive consumer room, bringing to life the trends, artifacts, and experiences of consumers in each market.
In addition to working with the designers to create a physical space, I provided visual and written content for an exhibition of our learnings, a consumer book, and videos to create a multi-media experience.
Creating a new education experience (2016)
I joined AltSchool in their first year as their first design researcher. AltSchool sought to revolutionize education by creating products and tools that empowered teachers - in order to do that, they needed constant research to understand the needs of teachers, parents, students, and operations.
In my two years there, I created systems to optimize cross-functional collaboration and user-driven decision making. This required building a research team, creating a user-centered culture, and acting as a lynchpin between design, engineering, and operations teams and our users groups. Facilitating this collaboration - clarifying the terms of the problem, generating mutual understanding, and then providing user-driven input to improve decision making - was the best part of the job.
